06: Type of record. If the collection contains only non-manuscript cartographic material (e.g., printed maps, printed atlases, printed globes, etc.), code as Cartographic Material, type e. If the collection contains only manuscript cartographic material (e.g., manuscript maps, manuscript atlases, manuscript globes, etc.), code as Manuscript Cartographic Material, type f. If the collection includes a mix of material types, code as Mixed Materials, type p.

Possible parallel structure: Non-manuscript cartographic material (coded e) and manuscript cartographic material (coded f) both give examples of the kind of material. Mixed materials (coded p) does not.

MT: So, the suggestion is that we add an example in parentheses showing what mixed materials might be? How about:

"If the collection includes a mix of material types (e.g., both printed and manuscript maps), code as Mixed Materials, type p."

TF: Adding this additional example would be good. 12/20/15

LSC: Agreed. 12/21/2015

NK: Agreed. 12/22/15

MT: Done. 12/31/15

Control field: 008

07-10: Date 1. Give the only date, earliest date, or earliest bulk date, from the 260 field.

11-14: Date 2. Give the only date, latest date, or latest bulk date from the 260 field.

In 07-10: Date 1a comma follows bulk date; in 11-14: Date 2there is no comma following bulk date.

MT: Deleted final comma in "07-10: Date 1". 12/19/15

255 field: Cartographic mathematical details

Field name as given in MARC21 is Cartographic mathematical data (http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd255.html); Appendix B and N both use Cartographic mathematical detailsfor the 255 and Coded cartographic mathematical datafor the 034.

MT: I think this happened because the name of area 3 is "Mathematical details". But I have no problem using the MARC21 name "Cartographic mathematical data" in these two appendixes, especially since it will match the 034 name better. Done. 12/19/15

541 field: Immediate source of acquisition

The spacing of first indicator may be different on the first example (Acquired by exchange from Auburn University) and the third example (On permanent loan from the J. Paul Getty Museum). They look a uneven to me, and when I overlay my printed version over the 245 examples from earlier in Appendix B, it looks like the first examples indicator is one character further left than the 245 examples, whereas the third example is formatted identically with the 245 examples.

MT: Fixed 1st example spacing. 12/19/15
