6. Spring meeting (in NYC?).

Minutes

After a short discussion, it was decided that Todd should remain permanently as chair of the editorial group.

1. RDA/DCRM discussion paper. It was decided to wait until the paper was discussed at Bib Standards (and after) before attempting to decide upon any consensus among the editorial members of DCRM(C). The question was asked whether a larger consensus among the differing DCRM modules was required or whether each module should put forth a particular preference given in the paper. Nancy will report to MAGERT and note the concerns from the map cataloging community as to the possible adoption of RDA.

2. Discussion paper 5. Todd will revise the draft of this paper and send it out to all members for review by Annual (if not sooner).

3. Area 3 Discussion. It was decided to accept the tracked changes and incorporate the area into the current master draft. When the time comes to submit this area for review, we can provide a copy of the tracked changes to those reviewing the area if needed. Another option would be to provide reviewers with a summary list of the major changes between CM and DCRM(C).

It was also decided we would accept changes with each draft.

Brief decisions:

The chapter will be renamed "Mathematical Details Area."

Manon will add phrasing about using DCRM(S) for serials.

3E. will be removed.

3A2.2. will be rewritten by Manon.

3B1.1. use the Cameroon example from 1B.

3B1.3. Nancy will provide an additional example (foreign, leagues, or metric).

3B1.4. Nancy will find an additional example for "defined linear distance" expressed graphically in material.

3B1.6. Manon will rewrite, adding third optionally; Randy will add an example.

3B3. will be moved to the end of the 3B. section.

3B5. the second example will be moved to 3B1.5. Nancy will find examples and Manon will separate out the celestial chart rule.

3B6.1. Nancy will query map catalogers as to the correctness of the examples given.

3B7. will be added as "Inaccurate scale" with examples.

3D. the use of "Optionally" is problematic for this whole area if it is to conform with DCRM phrasing. Manon will mention this to BSC about phrasing; it may be possible to expand the use of "If considered important."

3D2.2. we need to consider the ALA character set when entering degree, minute, and second symbols (put this information in an appendix?).

3D2.3. Manon will rewrite.

3D2.5. the last two paragraphs will be moved to 3D2.1. with a reordering of rules (Manon).

4. Area 4 Discussion.

Brief decisions:

4B1.1. See DCRM(G) as concerns the practice of this area; we will hold off on any decision for now. Will remove the words "cartographic" and "sellers."

4D7.1. add "transcribe or supply" or similar phrasing; clean up issue of bracketing with DCRM(S); add a section on multi-parts that are not yet complete.

4G. this differs from DCRM(G); it needs to be reconciled between all modules.

5. Area 5 Discussion. Todd will revise his draft of Area 5 to include manuscript material.
