2B7. In general, give an edition statement as it is found in the item. If an exact transcription is not desired, give standard abbreviations (see AACR2 appendix B) and arabic numerals (see AACR2 appendix C) in place of words as instructed in 2B. (2.15A mod.)

Transcribe the statement relating to an edition of a publication in the terms in which it appears. Give the exact wording if the edition statement is taken from the chief source. If it is taken from any other source (e.g., other than the title page for an atlas), standard abbreviations and arabic numerals may be given in place of words. Include explanatory words or phrases appearing with the edition statement. (Rare 2B1 mod.)

Transcribe as an edition statement a statement relating to issues or impressions, even if the publication contains no changes from the previous edition.  (Rare 2B2)

APPLICATION

 

Transpose separable edition statements into the edition area from other parts of the title page. If desired, make a note indicating this transposition. (Rare 2B7)

 

When information pertaining to other elements of the description (e.g., an original title or other information concerning the original work) is an inseparable part of an edition statement according to one or more of the conditions enumerated in 1B1, transcribe it as part of the edition statement. When statements such as in two volumes appear with an edition statement, transcribe them as they appear (see 1B16 APPLICATION 2). (Rare 2B8 mod.)
